The NPO Data Lab: transparency for the philanthropy sector

The NPO Data Lab provides the third sector with a well-founded digital source of knowledge. The platform provides central financial data and analyses for non-profit organisations in Switzerland free of charge.

CENTER FOR PHILANTHROPY STUDIES (CEPS)

The centrepiece of the NPO Data Lab is the comparison calculator for donation-based NPOs: by entering just a few data points, NPOs can compare their financial situation with that of similar NPOs and obtain relevant key figures. You can quickly and clearly see how your NPO compares in terms of reserve ratio, overheads or operating income. Additional insight stories provide in-depth information on key issues in the world of NPO finance and provide guidance on developments and challenges.

Orientation through data diversity

The second central database is the foundation statistics, which visualises the dynamics of the Swiss foundation sector. Users can compile data individually and filter by topic, region or year of establishment. In addition to the foundations, over 70,000 foundation board mandates can also be analysed by canton or supervisory level. All functions of the NPO Data Lab are based on scientific analysis and systematic data management – a high standard that constantly provides new insights. Use the NPO Data Lab to better understand the finances of your NPO or to prepare the development of the foundation sector for your own strategy analyses!
